| What is a pioneer?
A pioneer is one of the first
settlers in a new territory. Some other words that relate to pioneers
are backwoodsman, frontiersman, mountain man, frontierswoman or
colonist. Some of the most famous pioneers were Daniel Boone, Jim
Bowie, and Johnny Appleseed.
The brave men and women that went into unknown lands took only a few possessions with them. Once pioneers traveled to a new territory, they needed to build homes and a pioneer village. This webquest will help you design your own town as you learn about the new settler's way of life in the 1800's. |
